Fascinating and challenging trek to the base camp of Makalu (8462m), situated in the Makalu Barun National Park. Makalu - world’s fifth highest mountain - towers on the nothern boundary, straddling the borders of Nepal and Tibet. The Makalu Base Camp trek in the eastern part of Nepal is a trek of unsurpassed beauty, towering Himalayan peaks, biological diversity and cultural heritage. The Makalu trek starts from Tumlingtar and follows the beautiful Arun River into the Makalu Barun National Park. The panoramas from Shipton pass and from above Makalu Base Camp are magnificent, especially at sunrise and sunset the scene is even more sublime. Day 1 Arrival Kathmandu Meet our representative and driver at Kathmandu airport, transfer to your hotel. In the evening briefing about your Makalu Base Camp trekking. Day 2 Flight Kathmandu - Tumlingtar and trek to Khandbari Early morning flight from Kathmandu domestic airport to Tumlingtar. Tumlingtar is the only asccess to start Makalu Base Camp trek via flight. Same day walk up to Khandbari which will take us around 3 hours. Our campsite is above Khandbari (1040m).
